Gate admission for adults at the Kansas State Fair has gone up this year – from $8 to $10 – but those who buy tickets by Thursday can save money.

Through the end of the day Thursday, those planning to visit the fair can buy adult tickets for $6 at Dillons stores or online at kansasstatefair.tix.com, by phone at 800-362-3247 or 620-669-3618 or in person at the Kansas State Fair ticket office at 2000 N. Poplar in Hutchinson.

Starting on Friday and at the gate, adult tickets will be $10.

Ticket prices for children and seniors did not change. They remain $3 in advance and $4 at the gate for children ages 6 to 12, and $4 in advance and $6 at the gate for seniors age 60 and over. Children 5 and under are admitted for free.

Also through Thursday, fairgoers can buy a sheet of 22 ride tickets for $15 at the same places. That price will go up to $25 starting Friday.

The fair is offering a couple of other money-saving options, including the traditional “Dollar Day” on Monday, when outside gate admission will be $1 all day for ages 6 and over or free with a Dillons Shopper Plus card. The fair is offering a new promotion called “$4 after 4” on Thursday, Sept. 13. Gate admission for all ages will be $4 beginning at 4 p.m.

The fair opens Friday on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson and runs through Sept. 16.
