A man jumped from the north side of the Kellogg overpass onto Main Street on Monday afternoon, but survived the fall.
The unidentified man was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis campus with significant injuries, according to Wichita police.
Witness Raymond Kennon said he was driving south on Main Street about 4:15 p.m. when he looked up and saw a man standing on the railing of the overpass, about 30 feet above Main.
As Kennon started to drive under the highway, he saw the man turn his back. Seconds later, he heard the sound of the man’s body hitting the ground.
Kennon quickly parked and ran over.
“He was asking for help,” Kennon said.
The intersection closed while emergency workers responded. The victim’s condition was not immediately available.
