The fire was reported shortly after 6 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Washington, which is just north of Pawnee, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. Firefighters needed nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported. In fact, the supervisor said, the house may be vacant.
