A woman was hit by a car as she crossed against the crosswalk light in front of Wesley Medical Center Wednesday night, police said.
She ended up in the hospital with broken bones and other injuries — and the driver ended up in jail.
The 64-year-old pedestrian tried to cross Hillside just before 8:40 p.m. even though she didn’t have the light, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. She was hit by a southbound sedan.
She was taken to Wesley for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening, Schroeder said. When she is released, she will be ticketed for crossing against the light.
The 49-year-old woman driving the sedan was arrested for driving without a license and no proof of insurance.
Schroeder said pedestrians need to obey crossing signals, especially for crosswalks away from intersections because drivers may not be watching for foot traffic in the middle of blocks.
