Developers will break ground Tuesday on a 12-acre, $20 million apartment complex in northeast Wichita.

Great Plains Ventures and developer Jason Van Sickle are calling the complex Chisholm Lake Apartments, which will be located in the Ventures Business Park at K-96 and Oliver.

The project is the first phase of a 60-acre mixed-use development, according to a Great Plains Ventures news release on Thursday.

Officials said in the release that the complex will be upscale and “amenity rich.” Amenities will include a 24-hour fitness center, cafe-style lounge, pool, pet washing facility and fishing.

The complex is expected to take a year to complete. Pre-leasing will begin next spring.

Developers said they are looking at a number of other tenants for the development, including a convenience store or a hotel.

Contractor for the project is Key Construction and the architect is Krehbiel Architecture.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
