He’s one of the greatest presidents ever, or so we’ve been told. Fine – then stop the campaign. Let him stay in the Oval Office to work his magic over world events. Why waste campaign funds? The president need only display his great wisdom on the job.

GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan recently said President Obama inherited a bad situation. Ask yourself: Who created the bad situation? You will be mistaken if you come up with anybody other than the Republican Congress and the George W. Bush administration.

A wise quote to remember in reference to senior citizens as the debate about entitlements continues: “As you are today, I once was; as I am now, you one day will be.”

Entitlement lovers: There is a country in this world where all of the needs of the citizens are provided by their all-powerful and all-caring government. Move to North Korea and you too can have government-provided food, clothing and shelter. It’s paradise.

Wars going on with people being killed daily. No one wants to talk about that. Financial problems that worsen. We blame one another. A generation getting dumber. We cut schools. Congressmen busy on junkets dipping their parts in the Sea of Galilee? Figures.

Kevin Yoder said skinny-dipping was a momentary lapse of judgment. Electing Yoder was a lapse of judgment.

We hold public figures to impossibly high standards. So what if Yoder took a nude dip in the Sea of Galilee? Given the opportunity, I’d have done the same thing. This incident shouldn’t have even made the news. Don’t we have some pressing issues to resolve?

Many moderate Kansas Republicans would rather vote for a Democrat than a conservative Republican. How else do you explain such a string of Democrat Kansas governors since the 1960s in a solidly Republican state?

Fluoride is against gay marriage and raising taxes, and hates abortions. There – it should win the election now.

Put all the fluoride you want in the water. As long as kids are sucking down nothing but syrupy soft drinks, their teeth won’t get any better.

If we are going to medicate our water, can’t we come up with better than fluoride? The whole thing is ridiculous.

Regarding the new sign ordinance: What if there is no sidewalk? Where does city property end? What if someone moves a legal sign to an illegal place? Will you still get a fine? The trees the city plants too close to the street are much more of a hazard to drivers.

It is beyond belief that a few people think it is a sin for an adult business to be anywhere near a school, but that nothing is said about a registered sex offender not only living near one but being able to set foot on school property and enter a building.

Shouldn’t the movie “Groundhog Day” be on every day?
