Attorney General to announce statewide anti-gang initiative

State authorities and local law enforcement plan to announce a statewide anti-gang initiative Wednesday in Wichita.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt will present the project at 4 p.m. at the Scotch and Sirloin Restaurant, 5325 E. Kellogg Drive.

The event is part of a series of stops Schmidt plans to make across the state this week to speak on the initiative.

He also will appear Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Theater in Kansas City and at 11:30 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center in Topeka; on Thursday at the Ford County Sheriff’s Office in Dodge City at 9 a.m., followed by Garden City High School in Garden City at 11:30, and at 3 p.m. in Liberal at Rock Island Depot; and at 9 a.m. Friday at the Kansas Highway Patrol Auditorium in Salina.

The meetings are open to the public.
