A 16-year-old Goddard boy was injured in a one-vehicle crash west of Goddard early Tuesday morning, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office reported.

A passing motorist called 911 at about 4:30 a.m. when they saw a bumper on the east side of 231st Street West near U.S. 54, about three miles west of Goddard, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. The caller also reported seeing lights in a line of trees off to the side of the road.

Emergency personnel responding to the scene found the teen in a vehicle that had crashed into the trees. He was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in Wichita. He was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities aren’t sure what time the crash occurred.
