Chris Salamida and Brian Beuning held the Wingnuts to six hits Saturday in the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ 3-1 American Association victory in Canada.

Salamida (4-5) allowed all six hits over 6 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out four. Wichita’s only run came in the sixth inning, when Greg Porter doubled and scored on Wilberto Ortiz’s single.

That gave the Wingnuts a 1-0 lead, but Winnipeg scored two runs in the bottom of the inning and added a run in the eighth inning.

Wingnuts starter Anthony Capra (1-2) allowed three hits over six innings, but walked four and gave up both sixth-inning runs. Winnipeg’s Amos Ramon homered with one out, then Chris Roberson scored with two outs on Yurendell de Caster’s single.

Wichita was 9-6 on its annual lengthy road trip during the National Baseball Congress World Series, keeping its lead over the Kansas City T-Bones to 3 1/2 games in the Central Division. The Wingnuts begin a series against El Paso on Monday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
