Two federal grants totaling more than $500,000 will be used to help reduce the backlog of DNA testing in Kansans, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
The Justice Department said a $319,064 grant will go to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and a $247,374 grant will go to Johnson County.
The grants are intended to help state and local governments reduce DNA backlogs and decrease the turnaround time for conducting the tests
