The American people exercised their right to free speech and spoke very loudly all day Wednesday at Chick-fil-A restaurants across this great land. I hope our politicians are good listeners.
Congratulations to Chick-fil-A for sticking to its guns. It’s a shame that a simple opinion can create so much controversy. Get over yourselves. I don’t care how you are, so please don’t mind the way I am. I’m eating at Chick-fil-A from now on.
The boycott of Chick-fil-A is not to deny the free speech of its president but because of its enormous donations to organizations that work to deny gay people their rights. If you believe in traditional values, go volunteer somewhere instead of this lazy, spiteful act of buying a sandwich.
Congress just went on a five-week vacation. We are paying congressmen more than $174,000 a year with full benefits. I would like Reps. Mike Pompeo and Tim Huelskamp to explain why they need a five-week vacation.
You cannot fault Sheriff Bob Hinshaw because he has to choose his deputies from available applicants. Regardless of their background and training, nothing will prevent people from doing what they desire to do against the policies and procedures that are set in place.
The nasty mailers Dan Kerschen has put out make me wonder to whom he will owe his soul. Not the working folks in Kansas.
It’s time for Jean Schodorf to either be defeated or switch parties. The “go along to get along” wing of the Republican Party helped put us in our fiscal mess.
Kudos to the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce for doing what is right and supporting Carolyn McGinn in the Republican primary.
Taxation is not a sin. Greed is. Think about that when you vote Tuesday on the future of Kansas.
Candidates are running as “true” Republicans, and wishing to speak to the middle class. I believe we need to put both true Republicans and real members of the middle class on the endangered species list, perhaps including representatives of each in an exhibit at the county zoo.
I am looking forward to Wednesday. The political mailings will cease, and the junk political ads in The Eagle will be gone. Then you can look forward to the political “thank yous” and analysis of the election. I hope the losers are quick to remove their eyesore signs.
Total domination of the Olympics by USA and China will take its toll and erode the morale of most participating countries. With the worldwide economic downturn, it is surprising that most countries show up. Maybe it is time the taxpayers demand overhaul of the event.
To the people complaining about the women’s beach volleyball outfits in the Olympics: Give it a rest. There are no medals in prudery.
It’s funny – I never realized bedbugs could read.
