To encourage people to renew vehicle tags online, the state of Kansas is waiving the processing fees for online vehicle renewals beginning Wednesday.

People still have to pay the taxes due on their vehicle, but the credit card or electronic check processing fees will be waived. The service is good for the next 12 months.

“With so many people today using their computers, tablets, and cell phones to do everything from shopping to sharing photos, we want to make sure they also know they can conveniently renew vehicle registrations from the comfort of home,” said Donna Sheltie, director of vehicles in a news release issued Wednesday by the Kansas Department of Revenue.

Currently, Kansans have three options for renewing their tags: in person at the local county treasurer’s office, renewal by mail or online.

The https://kswebtags.org/ online renewal option is for those people who have a vehicle registered in Kansas, whose address on the renewal is current and who have vehicle insurance, as required by law. An online personal identification number will be printed on the registration renewal notices Kansans receive in the mail.
