Tied 2-2 in the top of the fourth, the Wichita Wingnuts exploded for six runs to defeat the Amarillo Sox on Monday at Amarillo, Texas.

Jesse Mier delivered a two-run double and Ryan Khoury capped off the inning with a three-run double that emptied the bases for an 8-2 lead.

After Wichita’s offensive outburst, starting pitcher Ryan Hinson allowed just one more run the rest of the way.

Hinson improved to 7-4 with the victory, pitching six innings while giving up eight hits, four walks and striking out three.

Chuck Lofgren started for the Sox and took the loss, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits in three-plus innings. Lofgren walked one and struck out two.

The two teams meet again tonight as the Wingnuts continue their 15-game road trip while Lawrence-Dumont Stadium plays host to the National Baseball Congress World Series.
