WICHITA — An 11-year-old boy returning from a trip to the convenience store was robbed within sight of his home Thursday afternoon, police said.
That proved fortunate, because the boy’s father saw the incident through a window and came out to confront the two young robbers at about 3:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Waco, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
“He scared the suspects off,” Nolte said, but not before they took the boy’s iPod.
The pair, ages 12 and 16, took off running. The father flagged down a passing police officer, told him what happened and gave a description, Nolte said.
The officer found the boys about three blocks away and arrested them. They were booked into the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center.
