Jeremy Jones has decided to leave the Kansas State basketball program after one season.

The senior guard, who came to the Wildcats following two successful years at Seward County Community College, is expected to seek a transfer closer to his home in Chicago.

“Jeremy has decided to leave K-State,” said coach Bruce Weber in a statement. “Over the past couple of weeks, he and I have had several discussions about his future and he thinks this gives him the best chance to be successful … I wish all the best with his future plans.”

Jones’ departure doesn’t come as a surprise. He stopped practicing with his teammates last week, and Weber indicated he was contemplating a transfer.

Jones contributed little during his lone season with the Wildcats. He saw action in 20 games, averaging 3.1 points as primarily an outside shooter. He showed promise early on, but injuries prevented him from building on that success.
