The 931st Air Refueling Group, the Air Force reserve unit at McConnell Air Force Base, is getting a new commander.
Lt. Col. Mark Larson, deputy commander of the 452nd Operational Support Squadron at March Air Reserve Base in California, will be replacing Col. William Mason on Aug. 4. A change-of-command ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on the base.
Larson, who will be promoted to full colonel Sunday, has been at March for 12 years. Mason, who had been the commander of the 931st for a year, will be the new commander of the 459th Air Refueling Wing at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The 931st has more than 600 members, including about 70 percent who live in Kansas. More than 130 of the members work as full-time civil servants at McConnell. The 931st shares McConnell’s 63 KC-135 tankers with the active duty 22nd Air Refueling Wing.
