One of the people killed in the Colorado theater shooting, Jonathan Blunk, 26, has family in Andover, and a local fund has been established to help pay for funeral-related expenses, the family’s pastor said Tuesday.

The family for now is not commenting and is asking for privacy, said the Rev. Jim Edwards, pastor at Andover United Methodist Church.

According to Equity Bank, donations should be made to the Dawna & Lee Nygaard Donations Account, to any Equity Bank branch, including these Wichita-area locations: Andover branch, 225 W. Central, 67002; Webb branch, 555 N. Webb Road, 67206; Rock branch, 7701 E. Kellogg, 67207; West branch, 10222 W. Central, 67212. For more information, go to www.equitybank.com.

A funeral service and burial will be held in Reno, Nev.; the burial will be Aug. 3, but other funeral details aren’t yet available, Edwards said.

Blunk was the father of two children. Edwards said as far as he knows Blunk did not grow up in the Wichita area.

According to media reports of the shooting, Blunk was fatally shot while trying to save a woman he was with at the theater.
