What to do with all that produce – If you have more produce than you can eat, or you’d just like to share, you can donate it for the needy at these locations during business hours: Kansas Food Bank, 1919 E. Douglas; Augusta Ace Home Center, 316 W. Seventh Ave. in Augusta; Brady Nursery, 11200 W. Kellogg; Hillside Nursery, 2200 S. Hillside; Hillside Feed and Seed, 1805 S. Hillside; Johnson’s Garden Centers, 802 N. Ridge Road, 21st and Woodlawn, 2707 W. 13th St.; Valley Feed & Seed, 1903 S. Meridian.

Garden events

Master gardener informational meeting – The Sedgwick County Extension will be training a new class of master gardeners this fall. If you’re interested in applying to receive the training and volunteer your time as a master gardener, you can attend an informational meeting at 10 a.m. Aug. 7 at the Extension Center, 21st and Ridge Road.

Daylily meeting – A craft project will be done at the next meeting of the Prairie Winds Daylily Society, at 7 p.m. Monday, and guests are welcome. Admission to the meeting, which will be in the Fireside Room at Botanica, is free.

Dwarf-iris talk – Lyn Wilson of the Wichita Iris Club will be at Botanica on Wednesday to talk about dwarf irises – Lilliputians for your garden. The lunchtime lecture will be at 12:15 p.m. and is included in Botanica admission. Lunch catered by Truffles will be available for sale from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Friends of Botanica garage sale – The Friends of Botanica will have a garage sale to benefit Botanica from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Botanica.

Butterfly walk – Botanica will have a butterfly walk at 10 a.m. Thursday, led by Elsie Neumann and Karla Jahn. It’s included in Botanica admission.
