A 42-year-old man has been charged in federal court with robbing the Emprise Bank branch on East Central on July 14.
Terry L. Webb faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if he is convicted, authorities said.
Prosecutors allege Webb entered the bank at 6030 E. Central at about 9:30 a.m. July 14 and told a teller I need $15,000. He put the money in a manila envelope and left the bank on foot.
Over the course of an investigation, authorities learned Webb spent part of the money to pay three months back rent and then hid the rest on top of a carport at an abandoned house near where he lives, prosecutors allege.
Webb was arrested Thursday morning at his house on Kenmar. Several people called in tips after Wichita police posted a security camera image of the robber on the departments Facebook page.
