Wichita weather: Heat hangs on as winds dwindle to a whisper

More triple digits for the Wichita are are expected today, forecasters say, with winds easing to the single digits.

The National Weather Service is projecting the high to reach 104 in Wichita, while KSN is predicting a high of 108. KWCH is in between, expecting a high of 105. KAKE is hedging its bets, saying highs will be between 102 and 108 in south-central Kansas.

Winds will be out of the east, but they’ll be so light ozone readings in Wichita could climb significantly.

Overnight lows won’t drop out of the 80s, setting the stage for a broiler of a weekend. Forecast highs Saturday and Sunday will be well above 100, with KSN predicting 109 each day for Wichita.
