Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies investigating a dog bite case at Lake Afton found a four-foot alligator in a camper-trailer Wednesday, authorities said.

A 13-year-old boy called 911 from atop the roof of a vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. after being bitten by his own dog, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. An EMS crew treated the boy for a bite wound on his hand, and deputies investigating the incident found the alligator in a box.

Animal control was summoned to take custody of the alligator, which was owned by the boy’s father, the supervisor said. State law prohibits owning inherently dangerous and exotic pets.
