A 33-year-old Hutchinson man was airlifted to a Wichita hospital after a traffic collision early Thursday morning, authorities said.
Benjamin Branton was driving north on Pershing Street in Hutchinson when he struck the back tires of a westbound semi in the intersection of Pershing and Fourth Street, Hutchinson Police Sgt. Brian Hirt said in a prepared statement. The impact of the collision knocked Branton’s vehicle into the Kwik Shop corporate office building at 724 E. Fourth.
Branton suffered head and chest injuries in the collision. He is in fair condition at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.
