Fargo-Moorhead at Wingnuts

When: 7:05 p.m. Thursday

Where: Lawrence-Dumont Stadium

Records: Fargo 35-22, Wichita 34-23

Radio: KWME, 92.7-FM

Two of the American Association’s division leaders begin a four-game series at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium tonight. And that’s where the similarities come to a striking halt.

North Division leader Fargo-Moorhead had a 14-game winning streak halted Wednesday by Sioux Falls, and has won 26 of its past 31.

Central Division leader Wichita has lost 14 of 18 since a blistering 30-9 start to the season.

Injuries and roster defections have taken a toll on the Wingnuts, and now would be a good time to begin a turnaround.

The series begins an eight-game homestand for the Wingnuts, who will host Amarillo on Monday through Thursday before leaving Wichita for 15 games while the National Baseball Congress World Series takes over Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Former Wichita State pitcher Aaron Shafer will likely start the final game of the series Sunday for Fargo. Shafer improved to 4-4 Tuesday in a victory at Sioux Falls. He’s seventh in the American Association with 57 strikeouts in 63 innings.
