Joe Paterno dedicated more than 60 years to Penn State football. I wish he could have dedicated two seconds to dialing 911. But I don’t think this was the first time he’d been told something. When kids even appear to be in danger, you step up. You don’t cover up.
I’ve got one thing to say about Gov. Sam Brownback: I don’t trust a man who doesn’t like the arts. I’m sure he has never have seen a Southeast High School stage show. I lived in New York City for 15 years, and the talent is just as good in this place.
Contrary to an Eagle article (July 13 Local & State), fluoride is not a chemical. It is a mineral. Wichita’s water already contains some fluoride naturally. I’m also tired of people saying it is a medication.
I don’t know why the media are making such a big deal about how ridiculous Scientology is. It’s just as ridiculous as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc.
Visit the Sedgwick County Health Department if you want to see what Obamacare looks like. I waited 90 minutes for a routine vaccination, with maybe five other patients in line ahead of me.
In 1932, President Roosevelt launched the New Deal, an unprecedented government stimulus program. It failed utterly. Now President Obama has an even larger spending program, which is also a disaster. Do politicians ever learn from their mistakes? Do voters ever learn?
Why is it that some people who say they will not vote for a multimillionaire for president absolutely refuse to acknowledge that Obama is a multimillionaire?
Well-intentioned golfers at Sim Park have been giving food to squirrels, which now just sit hoping for handouts. As a liberal Democrat, I am concerned about these squirrels. I suggest that the city provide peanuts to them daily. And because other squirrels are likely to see the benefits of government-supplied peanuts and discontinue hunting on their own, I suggest we start feeding all of the squirrels in Sim Park.
It seems that there is no outrage with having to show a picture ID when using a credit card. Why would showing a photo ID to vote be any different?
If you don’t want to show a proper ID in order to vote, what are you trying to hide?
If the government taxes you if you don’t have health insurance, that’s taking away our freedoms. But having to pay for a photo ID to participate in one of the most precious freedoms of all – that’s OK?
