Authorities find Kansas fugitive in KC attic

  • Published Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 5:29 p.m.

A man charged with sex crimes against a child in Shawnee County, Kan., was arrested by U.S. marshals today in the Northeast area of Kansas City.

The marshals service said that a call to the TIPS Hotline led them to a residence in the 5200 block of Lyon Avenue where they found 21-year-old Francisco Pena-Topete hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody without incident.

Pena-Topete was being sought on a warrant issued in January in Shawnee County charging him with aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated criminal sodomy, a marshals service spokesman said.
