Residents are invited to “Dare to Fair” July 11-14 at the Sedgwick County Fair, 308 S. Main in Cheney.
Commercial and food booths open at 5 p.m. July 11, followed by the opening of a petting zoo at 6 p.m. Events will include a parade, softball and washer tournaments, barbeque contest, fireworks show, 5K and 1-mile runs and Sedgwick County Fair Idol Contest. The popular Bull Blowout and Demolition Derby are back this year.
Admission to the fairgrounds is free. Events at the Open Air Stage require a $4 fair button, available at the gate. Carnival rides require tickets, which will be for sale on the grounds.

Botanica’s Kids Night Out
Botanica and the Tallgrass Film Association are sponsoring Kids Night Out at 7:30 p.m. July 11 at the gardens, 701 N. Amidon.
Admission includes children’s activities, popcorn, candy, chocolate milk and a Freddy’s Frozen Custard sundae bar. “The Goonies” will be screened at 8 p.m. at the amphitheater in the Children’s Garden.
Tickets are $6 per child or $4 for Botanica and film association members. Adults get in free with paid child admission. Reservations are required.

YWCA Wichita Jewelry Jubilee Auction
A jewelry auction to benefit YWCA Wichita Women’s Crisis Center is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 12 at Tallgrass Country Club, 2400 N. Tallgrass.
The show will be divided into a bargain table, where all jewelry is $5, and a silent auction for the finer pieces.
Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Tickets to the show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, $10 of which is tax deductible. Visit the YWCA’s website at www.ywcaofwichita.org to purchase tickets.
