One man is dead following a rollover accident near the Central Business District on Kellogg, police say.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg, east of the Sycamore exit.

Police say the driver of a dark-colored compact car was eastbound on Kellogg when he swerved sharply and rode up on the dividing wall, then flipped over. The passenger – a man believed to be in his 20s – was ejected and trapped under the car, Wichita police Sgt. Jim Merrick said Friday night. He died at the scene.

The driver, also a man in his 20s, was also injured, Merrick said. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center with less-serious injuries.

Police think both men are from the Wichita area.

Investigators aren’t sure what caused the accident, but Merrick said the driver of another vehicle may be to blame.

Eastbound traffic on Kellogg is being diverted to the Seneca Street exit. Westbound traffic was closed briefly following the accident, but was reopened, Merrick said.
