A clash between gangs led to gunfire in a parking lot near 13th and Hillside late Thursday night, police said.
About 20 members of one gang were having a party in a parking lot in the 1200 block of North Lorraine when a group affiliated with a different gang showed up at about 11:40 p.m., Lt. Doug Nolte said.
A fight broke out between the gangs, and one of the men in the gang that crashed the party pulled out a gun and pointed it at members of the other gang. A 14-year-old boy, who belonged to the same gang, grabbed the gun and began chasing a 22-year-old, firing shots at him, Nolte said.
None of the shots hit anyone as the crowd began to scatter. Witnesses and neighbors called 911 to report shots being fired, and police arrived quickly enough to talk to several people before they left.
Officers were able to identify a suspect in the shooting, Nolte said, and officers arrested the boy early Friday morning. He was booked into the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center.
