A Canadian man has been charged in U.S. District Court in an incident involving a 12-year-old girl from El Dorado, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Stewart Kenneth Cody McGill was charged with transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of engaging in sex. Authorities said McGill, from Ontario, Canada, picked up a 12-year-old El Dorado girl he met online last month and started driving north on the Kansas Turnpike.
His car was stopped in rural Michigan the next day, where he was held by state police. McGill was charged in a criminal complaint June 4. If convicted, faces no less than 10 years and no more than life in prison, in addition to a fine up to $250,000.
