Who wouldn’t like to drive home in a nicely restored Silver Anniversary Corvette and do a good deed in the process?

It could be as easy as making a $20 donation. Donations will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps veterans and their families deal without the lasting effects of injuries suffered in service to their country, the Central Prairie Honor Flights program, which sends WWII vets to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to their military service, and the Kansas Veterans & Family Reunion.

The 1978 Corvette, which has been restored through the efforts of volunteers and area sponsors over the last year, will be given away at the July 21 KVFR Veterans Car Show at El Dorado State Park.

"This is going to be a very nice car. It has a new interior, paint, tires, power steering pump and gear, an updated stereo and much, much more," said Rick Baker, Vice President of the KVFR. "We estimate the car will have around $20,000-$23,000 invested including purchase, repairs, donations and updating," he said.

The Silver Anniversary ’Vette is one of 15,283 built and features the silver metallic over dark gray metallic paint scheme, a 220-horsepower 350 V-8, automatic transmission and air conditioning, with a red cloth interior.
