The Crime

Just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, a man was shot in the back while sitting inside his home in the 1900 block of east Marion Road in south Wichita. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive his injuries. Police think the suspect walked up to the residence, fired one shot from a high-powered rifle though a glass window and accidentally fired a second shot while running from the scene. Neighbors reported seeing a dark-colored SUV in the area at the time of the shooting.
