If do-gooders are so desperate to prevent cavities, they should adopt the proposed New York City ban on supersized sugary drinks. It would have more direct effect and be less objectionable. They have no right to force everyone to drink fluoride.
I think Kris Kobach and the Republicans want only white, rich, male landowners to be allowed to vote. If you are a minority, female or poor, you don’t count.
Both the city and Sedgwick County are talking about budget problems and having to cut costs. Where are all the returns on investments from the tax abatements and other tax giveaways?
Since the school funding is in such a crisis, how about instead of raising or rearranging taxes we simply increase the enrollment fees? Wouldn’t that help take care of the financial problem, without further burdening other programs and without a tax increase?
To the person who claims that teachers whine about the No Child Left Behind law: Children cannot be “dumb as rocks” and still ace the tests. Teachers work their tails off every day for those kids. People are so ignorant about what goes into teaching.
So Wisconsin has been saved financially, and now the unions want it to turn around and walk back off the cliff. Are the voters that stupid?
Scott Walker has faced the hard issues to save Wisconsin from fiscal ruin. I applaud him, as I do Sam Brownback. He has also made difficult choices to aid our state, though he is barraged with criticism from the left.
You’ve got to love Topeka. We ask for property-tax relief; we get supply-side tax cuts. We ask for a simpler tax code; we get a more complicated one with a “glitch” the Legislature wasn’t aware of.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Kansans could be represented by politicians who at least knew how to read?
Tiger Woods may have tied Jack Nicklaus’ win record, but Nicklaus has some things Woods doesn’t have – class and morality.
I can’t think of a more deserving individual to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom than Bob Dylan. His whole career is based on poetry, the rights of the oppressed and freedom of expression.
