An arrest has been made in the stabbing death of a man in his downtown apartment in January, authorities said.

Victor Gonzalez, 33, was arrested late Thursday night at 2231 N. Arkansas, police records show. Capt. Brent Allred said Gonzalez was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder in the Jan. 30 death of Michael Salyer.

Salyer, 38, was found dead in his apartment by his sister early on the afternoon of Jan. 30 at 537 N. Emporia, authorities have said. Lt. Ken Landwehr said at the time that Salyer had suffered severe head trauma, and an autopsy determined he had been stabbed to death.

Salyer was last seen by neighbors at about 8 p.m. the day before his death, and his sister went to check on him when she couldn’t reach him the next morning.
