Thunder extends McClelland’s contract

The Thunder has extended the contract of coach Kevin McClelland through the 2014-15 season, the team announced Wednesday.

In his seasond year with the Thunder, McClelland led the team to the CHL Finals this season, the Thunder’s first appearance in the championship series in 14 seasons. The Thunder tied a franchise record with 44 wins and won the CHL Governor’s Cup for the league’s best regular-season record and McClelland was chosen CHL coach of the year. .

We are thrilled to be able to retain Kevin for three more years,” Thunder owner Rodney Steven II said in a news release. “Kevin has done great things for this franchise over the last two seasons and we look to build on that success as we strive to bring a CHL Championship back to Wichita.”
