Driver’s license stations across the state are back open after a weeklong shutdown to install a new computer system.

Tag offices in Sedgwick County will reopen Wednesday. They also were closed for the upgrade. Officials say the new recordkeeping system will merge Kansans’ driving records with their license and vehicle registration information. That will make it possible for law enforcement officers to have up-to-the-minute information about drivers.

The tag offices will be open late, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Treasurer Linda Kizzire told commissioners Tuesday morning. She said extended hours are something she might try to do from time to time.

Wichita’s driver’s license station is open 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays at 1823 W. 21st St., Suite 42.

The main Sedgwick County tag office is at 200 W. Murdock in Wichita.

Satellite stations are at 2120 N. Woodlawn in Brittany Center in Wichita; 2330 N. Maize Road at Chadsworth Center in Wichita; and 212 W. Greenway at Derby Towne Center in Derby.
