Four schools to be closed Monday

Some schools in the Wichita and Derby districts will be closed Monday.

There will be no school at Beech and Colvin elementary schools in Wichita because of lack of power.

Students who live in the area between Broadmoor and Greenwich, and Harry and Pawnee, won’t receive bus transportation Monday because of street closings. Also some bus routes could run late because of road conditions.

Teachers and staff who work at Beech and Colvin will report to the Instructional Support Center, 412 S. Main, at 10 a.m. Custodial and nutrition services staff will report to the School Service Center, 3850 N. Hydraulic, at their normal work time.

Decisions on whether to hold classes Tuesday will be made later this afternoon.

No Wichita schools had significant damage; Colvin had minor roof damage.

The Derby school district said there will be no school Monday for Cooper and Oaklawn elementary schools. Parents As Teachers will also be closed. Staff at Cooper, Oaklawn and Parents As Teachers should not report.

Also, no buses will run for secondary students in the Oaklawn-Sunview area.
