Sedgwick County emergency dispatch has put out a plea for people to stay out of southeast Sedgwick County unless absolutely necessary.

People who are sightseeing are making it difficult for emergency crews to get through to the area.

McConnell Air Force Base suffered some damage to its air traffic control tower and one of its hangars. The roof was partially torn off the Kansas Air National Guard 184th Intelligence Wing’s hangar.

None of the tankers were damaged. Ten tankers were in a hanger and 16 planes and 80 crew members had been sent to an Air Force Base in North Dakota ahead of the storm.
