Here is a series of maps produced by the Storm Prediction Center reflecting the severe weather threat later this week around Kansas.

The storm system responsible for the threat appears to be moving more slowly than computerized forecasting models suggested over the weekend, meaning the greater threat to Wichita for severe weather now appears to be Friday and Saturday.

Here’s the outlook for Thursday in the central Plains:

The second map is the SPC outlook for the next four to eight days. Day 4 is Friday, Day 5 is Saturday.

Atmospheric conditions for Friday and Saturday “will promote the potential for tornadic supercells also producing large hail and damaging winds,” SPC forecasters state.
