The records: Media reports from the Wichita Police Department.
Why you’d want them: The reports are snapshots of the previous day’s crimes, typically listed in order of severity. The reports include basic information about the type of crime and when and where it occurred. The names of victims or suspects are not included.
Where you get the records: Go to the police department’s website, www.wichita.gov/CityOffices/Police/. Click on the “Public Information” link under the photograph. Then click on “Media Reports” on the right-hand side of the page. You can view two weeks of reports.
How much they will cost: The information is free.
