A 6-year-old student at College Hill Elementary was hit by a car after school Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The boy was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said, but his injuries were not considered serious. The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. at First and Clifton next to the school.

Police at the scene told media the boy ran into the street and the woman behind the wheel slammed on her brakes but was unable to avoid him. Witnesses told police the driver had the right-of-way.
