The Thunder beat Texas 6-4 on Tuesday night, clinching the Berry Conference title, the Governor’s Cup and home-ice advantage for the playoffs.
R.G. Flath had a hat before the end of the second period and Chris Chappell added a pair of first-period goals, and Jarred Mohr had three assists. Flath’s third goal, a power-play scored at 16:17 of the second period, broke a 4-4 tie. Alex Bourret added a goal at 6:16 of the third period.
The Thunder killed off six power plays — one in the final 35 seconds after Alex Bourret was hit with unsportsmanlike and game misconduct penalties when Texas scored at 19:25 to pull within a goal.
