Featured business person: Ginnie Copeland
Business development coordinator, McCurdy Auction
Copeland doesn’t actually conduct auctions, but she sounds like she could.
“I definitely think it’s the quickest, fastest, most transparent way to sell real estate," she said. "The buyer doesn’t have to wait around for an offer to come in."
Born and raised in Wichita, Copeland did an internship for the National Auctioneers Association in Kansas City before working five years in a variety of roles for a national auction house in Tulsa.
Copeland and her husband, Michael, returned to Wichita so each could continue their college educations. He is majoring in secondary education; she is pursuing a business degree.
At McCurdy, Copeland will work in business development — "hopefully bringing in some corporate sellers" — streamlining business practices and improving customer service. It’s a new position for the company, and one that McCurdy hopes will help it grow.
Copeland and her husband have two children — Skyler, 5, and Jillian, 2.
"Between school and family, I think we’re pretty tied up now," Copeland said. "We do like visiting the Sedgwick County Zoo and Warren Theatre."
