Bank of America continues to trim its area branch network.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank will close its Augusta branch at 645 State St. on June 8, spokeswoman Diane Wagner said Thursday.
It will be the third area branch that Bank of America has closed in nearly four years. When the Augusta branch closes, the bank will have 14 branches in the area.
Wagner said employees of the Augusta branch have been offered jobs elsewhere in the bank, with several expected to transfer to the Bank of America branch at 329 S. Andover Road.
Theres no job loss, she said.
According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Bank of America notified the national bank regulator of the closure earlier this week. The Augusta branch was one of 22 branch closings the bank filed with the OCC this week.
Last year Bank of America closed its branch at McConnell Air Force Base in southeast Wichita. And in 2009 it closed its branch at 501 N. Woodlawn, which is now occupied by Credit Union of America.
Wagner said the Augusta branch closing is part of the banks continuing evaluation of its branch network.
