WICHITA – Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has officially opened his Kansas campaign headquarters in downtown Wichita.

The Pennsylvania senator is mounting a tough challenge to GOP rival Mitt Romney in some states.

Santorum victories in Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota on Feb. 7 boosted his poll numbers. Santorum has been emphasizing his blue-collar roots and looking to appeal to tea party and socially conservative voters.

A Kansas kickoff rally will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wichita headquarters at 155 N. Market, Suite 110. Local business and community leaders plan to speak at the event.

Kansas holds its Republican presidential caucuses on March 10.
