A 20-year-old Buhler man is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after he was injured in a three-vehicle collision in Hutchinson on Wednesday.

James Lambert was driving a 2002 Buick south on Lorraine Avenue in Hutchinson shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday when he struck a westbound Cadillac that failed to yield the right-of-way, Reno County Sheriff’s Capt. Wayne Baughman Jr. said. The Buick then struck a 2012 Chevy sitting at the stop sign for eastbound traffic on 43rd Street.

Lambert was taken to Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, then transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. The driver of the Cadillac, 69-year-old Joan Tolar of Hutchinson, was also taken to Promise, then transferred to Wesley. She is in fair condition today, a hospital employee said.

The driver of the third car, 18-year-old Megan Ellegood of Hutchinson, was not injured in the collision. Ellegood and Tolar were wearing their seatbelts, Baughman said, but Lambert was not.
