A BMW remains in a Lakepoint pond, where it came to rest after its driver lost control and splashed into the water late Friday night.

The 31-year-old man told police he lost control of the white 1989 BMW sedan as he was negotiating the curves around Gatewood and Linden shortly before 11:30 p.m., Lt. Sam Hanley said. The man was able to get out of the car, but he was arrested for reckless driving.

There is no indication alcohol played a role in the crash, Hanley said.

The sedan will remain in the water until weather and conditions improve enough to allow its removal, Lt. Joe Schroeder said.
