Wallace “Gene” Fairchild, the 89-year-old Kingman man who had been missing since Tuesday, was found dead Wednesday afternoon at a Harper County cemetery, authorities said.

Fairchild was found shortly after 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery south of Danville in eastern Harper County, which is south of Kingman. His family had reported him missing the day before when he didn’t show up for his daily visits with two family members.

He suffered from dementia, family members told police. A Silver Alert issued by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation was canceled.
