Two Wichita restaurants were cited for selling to underage customers during a compliance check Wednesday by law enforcement officials.

Felipe’s at 445 S. 119th West and Shoeless Joe’s at 2315 W. 21st St. were cited, Lt. Doug Nolte said. They were among 25 restaurants, bars and liquor stores checked by Wichita police and agents from the Kansas Department of Revenue’s Alcoholic Beverage Control division.

Underage customers went into each business and attempted to purchase alcohol. If asked for identification, Nolte said, they presented IDs that clearly showed they were under 21. Businesses can also be cited if an employee doesn’t ask for ID.

This is the second liquor law compliance check of 2012 in Wichita, Nolte said, and businesses can expect more as the year continues.
