The old Amtrak platform at Union Station in downtown Wichita, photographed Thursday, Mar. 11, 2010. A bill to expand passenger rail service between Kansas City and Texas is on its way to the House. The Senate passed Senate Bill 409 on a vote of 37-3. The proposal would allow the state Department of Transportation to work with groups along the proposed route. It also would allow the state to enter into service agreements with Amtrak.
