A 32-year-old man stole dozens of cases of soft drinks from four different Wichita convenience stores, including one twice, over an eight-hour period Sunday, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said.

Police were staking out the QuikTrip at 13th and Maize Road at about 3:45 p.m. when the man showed up and was arrested.

That arrest came less than 30 minutes after he stole six cases of Coca-Cola from the QuikTrip at 6011 W. Central – the second time he struck that store. A dispatch supervisor thought the man was only stealing pop and it was taken off stacks outside the stores, but he added that some reports didn’t say what was stolen.

Somewhere during the spree, someone got the license number of the man’s green Ford Explorer and gave it to police.

The man started shortly after 7 a.m. by taking items from the Kwik Shop at 2750 S. Oliver. At about 11:20 a.m., he took Sunkist orange drinks and 7-Up from the QuikTrip at 7991 E. 37th St. North.

He made his first hit at the QuikTrip on West Central at 1:30 p.m., taking unknown items. Shortly before 2 p.m., the man took 20 12-packs of assorted pop from the QuikTrip at Maple and Tyler.
